Has anybody really converted their car to run on water?

I’ve seen an article about converting gas engines to run water, not actually on water, but a gas that in converted from water.Supposedly this will double your gas mileage, but it sounds too good to be true to me.

It is too good to be true! The gas is produced through electrolysis by draining the car battery, which then has to be recharged by the alternator - burning more gas.
